Thyroid Disease and Female Reproduction
From Clinical Endocrinology
[Ссылки доступны только зарегистрированным пользователям ] Summary In infertile couples, AITD (autoimmune thyroid diseaseis) more frequently present when there is a female cause for infertility, especially in women with endometriosis and PCOS. Thyroid dysfunction is not more frequent in women with infertility. After ART (assisted reproductive technology), the presence of AITD, even in the context of normal thyroid function, is associated with a greater frequency of miscarriage. COH (controlled ovarian hyperstimulation) is an important stress factor for thyroid function. Screening for thyroid function and autoimmunity should be performed as part of the work-up in women with infertility. It should also be performed after ovarian hyperstimulation and at onset of pregnancy, when AITD was initially detected. Treatment with T4 should be administered when (subclinical) hypothyroidism is present in women: with irregular menses; preceding ART; after COH.
