Wikis have been widely publicized and the wiki concept has been really successful in ushering in a revolution in online collaboration. The ehealthpedia wiki uses the same wiki engine, Mediawiki, as Wikipedia and it will run on the GNU Free Doc License[*]. I know that this wiki can answer many questions on the minds of many of us in this field such as: "How can we collaborate on an acceptable curriculum for health informatics education?" The first page of the wiki will represent a list of major areas of health informatics and its where our collaboration on curriculum development can take place. "From where can we get materials to contribute?" Just anywhere including other GNU Free Doc sites. Anything relevant can be put in - just create the page. It's also the place for your original contribution, where many people in the field can view it. Do not put copyrighted material without permission from the source. All Organisations are permitted to place their information provided it is in the health informatics domain. "Is a wiki of any relevance to areas where there is no formal training in health informatics? " Yes! Infact, its more relevant to such areas because it will serve to help bridge the ehealth digital divide that currently exists. The purpose of the wiki is to serve as an encyclopedia for ehealth. The motivation for the wiki actually is the need for health workers in the developing world to acquire, share and disseminate informatics knowledge - knowledge that often helps them utilize the tools of the IT revolution to solve health problems. I believe that, together, we can create an online encyclopedia that can serve as a knowledge development tool and as a resource for learning!
