The sampling is recommended to be carried out during a period of clinical presentations or after an alimentary provocation; if a patient is a woman, then the sample material can be taken at the first day of an ovarian cycle or in the middle of this cycle.

Smears from the cervical canal. Before a taking of a smear it is necessary to remove an excess of the slime from the endocervix by a cotton tampon. After this the material can be taken by a rotary movement of a sonde or a Volkmann's curette; it is necessary to avoid the touches to the vagina walls.

Smears from the vagina. The material should be taken from the vagina walls by a rotary movement of a sonde or a Volkmann's curette.

Smears from the urethra. It is recommended to refrain from a urination within one hour before the taking of a smear. The smear (a scrape of epithelial cells) is taken by a sterile sonde with a dactron or cotton tampon that is introduced into the urethra on a depth from 2 to 4 cm (for men). Epithelial cells are collected by a rotary movement of the sonde. It is also possible to carry out the sampling by a Volkmann's curette.

Contents of vesicles, pustules, ulcers. The sampling is carrying out by a sterile sonde with a dactron or cotton tampon wetted in a physiological solution.

Collected material should be transferred into a 1,5 ml tube containing 200 microliters of the physiological solution by the active rotation of the sonde or the curette. Then the sonde should be removed from the tube, the tube should be carefully sealed and placed to a storage place.
