Family Physician ----- I would treat depression myself. SSRI are drugs of choice. Safe and reliable. I prefer Celexa citalopram. It has more favorable side effects profile, faster onset of action though some may disagree and is not more expensive than other similar drugs. I am not sure it is necessary to seek neurology consult. Depression is better managed by psychiatrists if primary doctor fails. Yours truly, Family Physician.
