COMMON DRUGS OF ABUSE::
The seven classifications of drugs with names, eye indictors and possible effects.

CLASS DRUG NAMES EYE INDICATORS POSSIBLE EFFECT

CANNABINOIDS: Marijuana, Hashish Oil
No Nystagmus present, pupils normal in size an reactive to light, bloodshot red eyes, difficulty focusing.
Euphoria, relaxed inhibitions, decreased concentration resulting in reduced ability to perform tasks such as driving a car.

STIMULANTS: Amphetamine, Methamphetamine, Ritalin
No Nystagmus present, dilated pupils, light sensitivity, difficulty focusing, slow reactivity to light.
Increased heart beat, elevated blood pressure, euphoria, insomnia, dizziness. Accelerated internal clock, rapid/jerky movements, divided attention impairment.

DEPRESSANTS: Alcohol, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, GHB, Rohypnol Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus present, Pupils normal in size but slow reactivity to light. Bloodshot eyes and droopy eyelids Slows down the Central Nervous System.
Divided attention impairment, slurred speech, disorientation, altered perceptions, staggering walk.



NARCOTIC ANALGESICS:
Opium, Heroine, Codeine, Methadone No Nystagmus present, constricted pupils, little to no reactivity to light, droopy eyelids.
Relieves pain, will produce withdrawal signs when drug is stopped. Euphoria, drowsiness, nausea, and respiratory depression. Decreased body temperature, pulse, blood pressure. Poor balance.
HALLUCINOGENS: LSD, Mescaline, PCP, MDMA
No Nystagmus present, dilated pupils, slow reactivity to light, blank stare/dazed.
Illusions and hallucinations, poor perception of time and distance. Rapid Heartbeat, increased body temp., pulse, blood pressure. Body Tremors/Muscle Rigidity.
INHALANTS: Nitrous, Glue, Ether
Horizontal gaze nystagmus and Vertical Gaze Nystagmus present, Dilated pupils, slow reactivity to light, blank/dazed stare.
Some inhalants include psychoactive chemicals that produce a variety of effects. Others exert their major effect by blocking the passage of oxygen to the brain. Depress the function of the Central Nervous System. Poor balance and coordination, increased pulse, disorientation.
DISSOCIATIVE
ANESTHETICS: PCP, Ketamine
HGN & VGN present, pupil normal and reactive to light, blank stare/dazed. Anesthetics impair motor function. Increase heart rate, blood pressure and pulse. Euphoria, disorientation and muscle rigidity.
