Dear friend.
There is no such a thing as "acute medicine" in a world of official definitions. So, you (and anyone) can define it ad libitum.
Emergency medicine is western medical subspeciality, for the doctors, working in ER. Indeed, it is dealing with a lot of acute conditions, but also with a lot of other common complains.

Thank you much, Anton!

Approx. every 2 month I buy one of the “Oxford handbook of…” (e.g. Clinical Medicine, Clinical Immunology etc)
Certain time back I saw “Oxford Handbook Of ACUTE Medicine” in a bookstore and attached no importance to it. I had thought acute medicine is the same that critical care or emergency medicine, before I saw “Oxford Handbook Of EMERgency Medicine”, So that really puzzled me:confused: Now, I have no idea what this book is about…
Today I found out some info about “acute” --> “Medical Acute Dependency Unit” in one of the UK`s hospital (welcome to the MAD :) )
Nevertheless, things are right where they started.

grazie per l'aiuto!
Vitali.
